While travelling by car across Lithuania, the photographer observes the advertising landscape of his native country, seeking to contain the layers of natural, urban and social landscapes in presence of advertising.

The photographer has visited many countries, but Lithuania stands out for its outdoor advertising culture, its rich variety of design solutions, ranging from DIY sculpturesque creations to supersized billboards, inspired by the winds of globalization. Those huge roadside billboards were leading us to the unprecedented growth of economy until 2007, while their collapse or long-term vacancies embodied the  symptoms of the overheated economy and crisis in the Lithuanian landscape.

Mindaugas Kavaliauskas (b. 1974 in Kaunas, Lithuania) is photographer, founder and director of KAUNAS PHOTO festival. His works have been showed in tens of exhibitions in Lithuania, Europe, USA, China, Australia and New Zealand.

The “Indiana Dream” exhibition is available to see outdoors, on Merkurijus wall (Laisvės av. and Daukanto str,) till 11 of October.
